Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Deviation is a technique of de-familiarization in which, in order to create novel and creative poetic images, the rules governing language deviate from the norm, and this issue causes prominence in the literary text. Hadiqa Sanai and Rumi"s Masnavi are among the literary texts that have made extensive use of this technique to highlight the image. The main purpose of this research is to examine the deviation in the poetic images of Hadiqa Sanai and Rumi"s Masnavi.
METHODOLOGY: thod: This research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and a data survey type within the framework of the components and propositions of the structuralist school based on Leach"s model of deviation. Examples and instances were randomly collected in Hadiqa and Masnavi.
FINDINGS: findings: The research findings show that in Hadiqa Sanai and Rumi"s Masnavi, highlighting in images has been used in a very artistic and prominent way to encourage the audience to benefit from deep mystical and educational examples and themes.
CONCLUSION: Based on the results of this study, illustration with the help of human, animal and plant elements is the most obvious type of visual non-normativity in Hadiqa Sanai and Rumi"s Masnavi. Sanai and Rumi have tried to highlight the meaning by taking advantage of non-normativity in the use of human, natural and plant elements and by creating a semantic break in logical, visual and auditory concepts and creating new images and presenting mystical purposes and Sufi and educational teachings to the audience in the most beautiful way.
